Upon receiving your photo, we will create a custom-size engraving based on the size you have chosen. The engraving will be divided into the number of pieces you have ordered.
As we strive to maintain the original photo ratio and not crop your photo too much, the final portrait size may deviate slightly from the listed sizes (these are an approximation only). We recommend a photo aspect ratio of 4:3 for the best results.
The reverse side of each puzzle piece will be engraved with a number that corresponds to a number on the frame. We then coat the pieces in a clear protectant and package them securely for transport.
Along with your bonbon order, you will also receive an acrylic frame with a teak-stained wooden border, with instructions on how to set-up the portrait frame and an instructional pamphlet for your event attendees. We also provide two complimentary, black permanent markers for your friends, family or colleagues to write on the back of their pieces, so no other equipment is required from you.
Once all the pieces are signed and put in place, you can place the provided acrylic front on top of the puzzle and secure it with the fasteners bordering the frame. We provide a length of wire, pre-crimped for your particular frame that can be used to hang the frame on the wall. Details and how-to instructions are provided for all of this with your order, so you don’t have to worry about a thing!

We recommend using a high resolution, digital image with minimal clutter in the background (busy backgrounds tend to make the main subjects less distinctive). Avoid using screenshots or saved images from social media platforms like Facebook, as they tend to have low quality.
Images with high contrasting elements can really elevate the final engraving, but understand that engravings will not have colour. For an idea on how your image will look, you can use a filter on your phone or computer to see the image in Black & White.
If you provide an image with a portrait aspect ratio, the engraving and frame will be portrait and if it is a landscape aspect ratio, the engraving and frame will be landscape.
We may remove or slightly mute the background of images that are distracting from the focus subjects, so please let us know if the background of your image is important to you.
We coat all puzzle pieces in a clear protectant, which protects them from water damage, minor spills or staining.
We completely understand that you or an event attendee may lose or damage their puzzle piece before adding it to the frame. While this is uncommon, we don’t want it to take away from your experience, so please let us know after your event if a piece has gone missing or been damaged. We can replace it at a cost of $10.00 per piece smaller than 5 x 5 cm and $20.00 per piece larger than 5 x 5 cm (plus shipping).
The production wait-time for our portrait puzzle is currently 3-4 weeks.
We manufacture the portrait puzzles here in Brisbane, Australia and there is a large amount of customization with this product. As such, we will work our hardest to get your order out as soon as possible.
Once prepared, your order will be dispatched with Australia Post and should arrive to you within 3-7 business days.
As these are custom-made products, we cannot accept returns on any Portrait Puzzle order.
Within the first two days of your order being placed, we have begun design preparation and ordered consumable items that cannot be refunded, so all refund or change requests MUST be made within 48 hours of placing your order.
For events that have been cancelled, we can either send the products that have been completed or process a 20% refund - the value being what is left after the stock, manufacturing and labour cost.
